Framing 101
Picture framers have a variety of methods available to them in mounting artwork. Today, I will talk about "Vac-u-Mounting". Vac-u-Mounting works great for posters and prints. First of all the print is sprayed on its back with a spraymount adhesive. Then the print is laid adhesive side down on a fome-cor mounting board. Fome-cor is a very smooth, rigid board with a foam center making it light weight and easy to trim. We then put the print into a cold vacumn press. A vacumn pump sucks out air out of the press chamber creating pressure (about 25 psi) permanently bonding the print to the board.
